Marketing Guidelines
Getting Started...

 

Good, now you’re ready to Start...

You should start out by brainstorming; trying to come up with ideas for a product. Something in your area of expertise if at all possible. Don't limit yourself, write down things you like to do, or things that others think your good at. It's not a requirement, but it makes it easier when you're starting out and after you gain experience.

Then when you gain some experience; you will be more comfortable trying new things. If, you absolutely can't create a product related to your expertise; you may need to look for other ideas. They may require more work on your part, such as researching and compiling data. Dive in and get your feet wet. It's the only way to win, waiting for everything to be perfect is a big mistake.

What do you want to accomplish?

Don't just say make money.
Even if, that is your primary goal.
Create measurable goals.


It should be something like this:

Goal: I want to make $XXXXX in the next ___ amount of time. Or maybe, I want to sign up XXX number of people to my newsletter.

Goals should be measurable by some means; otherwise how would you know if you reached it. They shouldn't be to comfortable, make yourself stretch to reach otherwise you are selling yourself short.

You should also have a Mission Statement something like this:

"Create a superior quality product, or service for my customer, that will sell for a profit, and more than satisfy my customers desires and expectations."

You will use this mission statement to evaluate that your methods to accomplish the task meets the criteria established by your mission statement. This should help you make some decisions later in the process, much easier.


Planning:

    • Write down how you plan to accomplish this task.
    • Don't worry about a lot of detail at this point. Just create a basic outline covering the main steps.
    • Check your outline for obstacles or difficult to accomplish tasks. Revise your outline to include the additional steps to overcome these obstacles.
    • Ask someone knowledgeable to look over your outline. Ask them, to give you a critical evaluation. Don't take it personal, if they pick your plan apart. If, you can't convince them how to accomplish it, it needs more work.
    • Don't get discouraged!!! No matter what happens.

      This is one of the times, that many 'would be' marketers give up. Don't be one of them the 95% that doesn't make it because of lack of desire.
       
    • Keep Going and going and going... You've seen that commercial

      The very next step could be the one you've been searching for and trying to reach. It may seem that you just can't go on; but that's when you have to reach down deep inside and decide you can. It's that drive and effort that creates winners.


      If you want to make a success of this; then you have to create a plan and it must be written down and timelines established for each step. Keep working on this until you are confident that you can accomplish your task in a step by step manner in the time frame required to meet your goal.
