Maybe They Can Help You...
Guarantees
You seldom get to try something first, guarantees should let you, but ask for refunds and see what happens. I had one previous marketer decline selling me an ebook, because I returned another group members ebook. It was his loss, never did here anyone talking about it later. You have to remember the old "buyer beware" before purchasing anything.
Their 100% guarantee wasn't what it said, "No Hassles". Let alone, the nasty email I received, prior to getting my money back. I kept note of the group and haven't purchased from any of their group since. I did contact his affiliate about the problem and he took care of it for me. I purchased several other items from him when he corrected my hassle.
I also let some of the other members know what had happened. I’m not sure he is in their group any longer. I kind of liked one of the members, and he tried to give me a free ebook, after he found out what happened. You need to be aware of the people you are dealing with; your reputation is always on the line. That may be the leverage you need to get your money back.
It only takes one bad apple to spoil the barrel. No one wants to be classified as being on the shady side of any product if they are successful already.
Guarantees are great for promoting and selling, but you have to be willing to back them up. If not, don't make the offer.
There are a few internet marketers trying to maintain the integrity of their groups. iCop is one of those groups, but their are several others.
The data exchange forum can help keep you from making these same mistakes. If, you have a problem with a product or service, please post the relevant facts for the membership.
Participation in the forum can pay off for everyone. If it’s used correctly.
Honesty, integrity, and over delivery are some of the keys to successful business endeavors.

Everyday, there are new products being offered, many are just a re-hash of products that already exist. More value for your money; could be obtained by investing in something different.
Some eBooks have been purchased and renamed and then promoted under a new name. Some products are new and very valuable, they are hidden among all the others.
DJ's newsletter and forum should help you, identify good value, and eliminate duplicate and non-value added purchases. I have gathered eBooks from all over the internet; and use them to perfect my marketing skills.
Many free eBooks cover basically the same information and are actually used as a viral selling tools. Use them for learning and creating new ideas. Study the headlines, bulleted items, and sales copy, make it a learning experience, no need to buy. Use these to your benefit, learn to use similar methods or improve upon them.
Of course, everyone does, it’s part of the learning curve. Don't let it get you down, just go on and tell yourself, I'm not going to do that again.
You should look for products, that will enhance what you are promoting, or selling. If it, saves you time, money, or increases targeted traffic, and sales; then it is probably worthwhile.
Tip: Stay focused, on what you are trying to accomplish, and work toward that end.
GURU's
Have you noticed, how many of the gurus, give testimonials for one another? They call it joint ventures, or networking.
Don 't get me wrong, this isn't all bad, but It is pretty difficult starting out. You have to be making plenty of money to get in with the 'guru's', or have something they need... like a large optin list, and a high search engine ranking, or a brand new idea to bring traffic to their sites.
If, you check the names and products being promoted, you will begin to learn about niches, joint ventures, networking, affiliates, and testimonials. Some are good, others are hype. "You pat my back, and I'll pat yours" philosophy. Buyer Beware. Look for actual value added content not just testimonials. Some are great and actually should be promoted, others are hype. Being able to distinguish between the two is sometimes difficult.
I laugh sometimes, when I see how many, try to be the first to send me to an affilliate site. Second doesn't count, as far as commissions are concerned. Once in a while someone actually studies, and writes original material; they are usually the better affiliates. In some cases, they actually tried the product before promoting it. Today the original developer will offer sales letters, webpages, and anything related to marketing for their affiliates.
Lists and products are exchanged and testimonials written to benefit the group. Don't get caught up in the hype, or the limited time frame. You may want to email and see how soon they respond. Wait until the next day before buying; if you decide to buy.
Whose link, do you use to purchase? The one, that offered the most bonuses at the least price. If your going to buy, you might as well get the best deal possible. I tend to wait a few days and read the discussions on various forums before buying. Once in a while, I have to pay more because I waited, but not very often.

Creating a method to sort the good, from the not so good, led me to paid newsletters and member forums. This gets pretty expensive. I have reduced my paid memberships to 3 or 4 good newsletters. Usually in different areas of marketing.
TIP:
Try to stay within a small niche, when starting out. You will find some creditable people if you follow along. Most of the good ones will try to help you; if you ask.
You can gain credibility by doing the same thing; helping others, and demonstrate your expertise, on some related subjects. It also will help increase traffic to your site.
It's pretty difficult to make associations with the major players until you have proven your worth, and have a large opt in list, great product, or high search engine ranking.
This site was created for newbies, including myself, to give us a chance to save some time and money. By networking, you and I, should be able to reap some of the same rewards as the guru's and build a creditable reputation.
Working together to become more successful is not that difficult; if you find the right group. Many never learn this one critical aspect of marketing
The web changes everyday and most of the actual gurus have staffs to help them stay ahead.
No one person can be aware of all the valuable products, and resources on the web.
One of todays buzz words is networking, and it does make sense. I used to call this a support group.
Have you tried to get a network started...Kind of hard isn't it?
