Latest Buzz Words
for Internet Marketing

In the last year, spam, teleconferences, nich marketing, conferences, blogs, audio, RSS, and now handwritten fonts in sales copy seems to be the buzz. In the last few months PLR (private label rights) has been big, also AdSense and high dollar keywords. Audio/Video has really come into its own recently both for sales and tutorials. Now were hearing about podcasting. Some new eBay products have come to light. Affiliate members and sales are going strong

If you have email, you know what spam is. I have gone from almost nothing to several hundred a day. It wouldn't be so bad, except I'm pretty protective of my email address. I don't like anything about this buzz, I hate spam.

I have filters, but I have subscribers, and customers, that have my good email address; I have to check everything. I keep whitelisting (adding to email contacts) my friends, subscribers, and customers. Someday, filters may work, but rather than miss one wanted email; I spend about 2 hours a day checking. I have a commitment to my subscribers and keep having to go through the junk mail because my email filters are not capable of actually filtering.

Buzz Words

Teleconferences are alright for some people, but I just can't make myself sit with a phone for that long. My other problem is I don't hear as well as when I was younger. I know it must be working though, to many well known GURU's are using it.

Niche Marketing is another area that has gotten a lot of attention this year. I think it is legitimate, and probably profitable, if you happen to find the right combination. A smaller group of people interested in something specific; and the money to buy related information or product.

They are also into conferences, I get emails everyday for a conference somewhere in the world. I think the guru's use these to get together for joint ventures, and it would become a tax write off. It seems, this is one of the main selling points.

Blogs have become common place in the last couple years, now there are even search engines for blogs. The buzz here is that you can use them to help SEO (search engine optimization) which should lead to more hits on webpages. Should only get bigger with time, there are several thousand already.

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a syndicated feed of data. It can be used by your browser, webpage, or as a standalone popup on your desktop. It has nothing to do with email so spam isn't a problem yet. Limiting what you want to see is sometimes a problem at first. I have a feed and get updates every few minutes.Webpages with updated specific content usually get a higher ranking, so it is claimed that RSS  improves SEO. I will probaly try and test this real soon.

Hand Written Fonts with Pop Ups...Do you remember some time ago, your regular mail had lots of advertisments. Do you remember all the ways they used to try and get you to open them? The first ones were post cards typewritten, then there were in envelopes  typewritten, then they began handwriting for more personalization in hopes of getting them opened. Today, look at some of the sales copy on the internet, they are beginning to use a font that appears to be handwritten.

PLR (private label rights) It seems there isn't a fast rule about how these can be used. Some say you can do anything you want with there product; others require a major re-write if used to create something else. Prices vary from reasonable to rediculous. I think most of this got started from the "content is king" theory and has now spread into AdSense. Most of the products are offered as a membership site.

AdSense is reportedly paying some big money to several websites, if they are tightly targeted at the high paying keywords and the traffic is there. There have been some spin off products created to help try and find special niches and keyword info.

Audio/Video is another area that has seen quite a lot of growth in the last few months. Marketers are testing different theories and methods for selling using both audio and video. I have seena lot of tutorials created using video of one form or another. Some think that video may let your customer feel like a real live person is is presenting the sales pitch.

Recently there is some indication that some of the things, that doesn't work here anymore is working in other countries. This is just something I read from some RSS feeds, I don't know that it is factual. It might be worth checking into; if it happens to be true, it should be easy to reach that market. Many of the past U.S. marketing methods are pretty well documented and tested for here. Might require some adjustment for other cultures to be successful.

Joint Ventures has been a big topic in recent months and several new e-books and software have been making the new product marketing rounds. Especially adding audio/video and CD's to increase the price of the new products.

In recent months everyone seems to be jumping on the AdSense bandwagon. There are a lot of ads indicating some big dollars if done by their particular methods. AdWords is not far behind in being marketed to pull traffic.

The latest happening:

Well, now that it's over with, I would say that Frank Kerns and his affiliates made a little money over the weekend. The new buzz is that digital products are of much less value and physical products create a great deal more perceived value. The event was done in a manner, that seems to be the quick way, to making big money on the internet. The guys with the largest lists were sent the contents for their evaluation. I'm not sure how many over the 700, was distributed for evaluation. I imagine, they also received the promotional material for distribution; since I received duplicate copies from several different sources.

Frank, did a lot of work on this project from the planning stages through actual release. (700 limit was magic) He did a good job of pre-selling because I started getting email about a month before the release, building anticipation of the release date. Then in the last week, there was another release creating urgency; telling of the number on his waiting list and that the product was expected to sell out as soon as it was released. The basis were pretty well covered. I received an email from Frank saying, they had sold out.
Congratulations Frank, masterful job.

Now, we will all wait and see, how many of the 700 can make the process work. I hope it's more than 5%. I wish them all, luck and prosperity. I also received email from some other marketers; telling that the cost of the product was the least of the expenses, that would be incurred to complete the process. One even said the costs would go above $8000. Purchasers may be sworn to secrecy, but almost always, leaks develop. I participate in enough forums, I'm sure I'll hear something.

Guess I must be on the wrong forums, I haven't heard anything. I don't know whether that's good or bad. Somebody said the other day, you don't hear much because people are either satisfied, or completely dissatisfied. The dissatisfied won't admit to making a mistake and the others won't tell because it's working. I always figure no news is good news at least in a hospital. It may be too early to tell how the purchasers came out.
