     About Darell

My Previous Job

I began looking into Internet marketing (4 years ago) after retiring as a manufacturing engineer and systems analyst for Deere. Planning, selling, implementing, follow up, and troubleshooting was part of my job description. Later It just became troubleshooter, way to general, it meant I had to be able to do anything related to the company. Most of the time, you just rolled up your sleeves and got busy; sometimes, others would show up to help.

Working with support group teams, we accomplished many difficult tasks on budget and on time. Savings in time and money were accomplished by studying, planning, implementing, and following up of new ideas for many projects. I can't tell you how many over a 30 year period of time. It was a good job, I got to try all kinds of new ideas so my job wasn't to monotonous. One of the most rewarding parts was working with a lot of fantastic people from all over the world.

Selling projects to upper management wasn't always easy. Large amounts of money was required to accomplish some of these tasks. Justification of outcome was required, and successful completion was expected. If, you wanted to advance, and keep your job.

I was used to working with experts, and support groups, to help in my decision making. I hope to develope a similar system on this site. No one can know everything, so it is important to find the proper group of experts, if you want to be successful. I am in the process of finding that group right now. I hope some of you will want to join us and travel the road to success.

My younger years

That was a long way from the dairy farm I was raised on.I learned about long days 7 day work weeks when I was very young. Responsibility was part of growing up and everyone had specific jobs to perform. Winter was pretty, but not much fun on the dairy. It meant more chores, and starting and finishing work in the dark. Everyone just rolled up their sleeves and did what was required to get the job done. I learned a lot of lessons on the dairy, especially about working.

I was involved in 4-H (head, heart, hands, & health) for 12 years, where we learned to "Make the Best, Better"(4-H motto). I was pretty succesfulll at that level, won several top awards including the 'Who's Who Key Award' one of the highest awards for members. I left the farm after 4 years in the USAF, and 3 years as a service representative for an aircraft maintenance company. I moved back to my home town got married to a teacher and we, had a boy and a girl. I had to settle down then, I had new responsibilities.

My Kids

I wanted my kids to experience some of the things I did while growing up. We leased 40 acres outside of town and purchased some livestock. They weren't always crazy about all the time and work. Feeding and caring for animals can be a real learning experience in itself. It's a 7 day a week job, and it teaches planning, problem solving, responsibility, and determination.

The kids job was to manage the well being of their animals, go to school, and keep up with any other activities they chose. Both were involved in several sports and other activities at school. They were also involved in 4-H for around 12 years and were involved in, and won many competitions. I worked as a volunteer 4-H leader and coach during this time.

It was this environment, that led me to know you will never quit learning. It also teaches you time management, and delegation of authority. Sorry, responsibility can't be delegated. Many of the people I worked with were products of a similar environment. That always makes things easier, if you know how others relate to similar situations.

Today, Since Retiring

Today, after retiring, I can pretty well do as I please. Spending time with grandkids and traveling, going to sports events, and reading, probably tops the list. I have always had a pretty good success rate; so I figure getting involved in Internet marketing, should be successful as well. I just have to learn the ropes and stick with it. I do spend a lot of time on the Internet.

I would like to earn enough money from this journey to pay for my grandkids  education. It's the best way I can think of to continue supporting my kids, and grandkids. That should be enough to motivate me into working and accomplishing this endeavor.

Failures and problems being resolved,  are all a part of learning and knowledge. If, you haven't failed a few times, you probably haven't done anything. Overcome doubts and fears by jumping in and doing something. You will surprise yourself at what you can accomplish.

The feeling of a job well done is the positive reinforcement required to keep you moving forward. Money itself is not enough, it's the satisfaction of successfully accomplishing a task, that is the most rewarding.  Money Follows Success.

Remember, keep working toward your goal, never let it go.

Dues

I have spent considerable time and money the last couple years, buying, studying, and starting. I've also done a lot of backing up and starting again. I've read, many successful Internet marketers started the same way. Paying their dues by working and learning and doing. Stay focused, keep working, it will pay off.

I don't claim to be an expert at Internet marketing, or being a millionaire. I am just beginning to see a little profit from Internet marketing. The main thing is to get started and don't worry about mistakes, everyone makes them...

Dues must be paid, if you plan to succeed.   Keep Learning and doing. Opportunities, or obstacles, as some call them happen everyday, work through them and find ways to turn them to your advantage. Anything of value, requires some work to make it valuable.

Simple but valuablelessonlearneddd from my previous job:

Do you know how to eat an elephant?

One bite at a time, and you will eventually get it eaten. Think about this the next time you have a large project to complete. Break it into smaller more manageable pieces; it will be much easier to complete one piece at a time.

Internet marketing and sales require lots of skills.

Finding a market, developing a product, web site design, sales letters, promotion, search engine optimization, e-commerce setup, tracking, testing, evaluation, and adjusting for maximum profit. I'm pretty sure I left a couple out but as you can see many skills are required.

Today, there is far more data to sort through, than there was just a couple years ago. The Internet is really a world wide network. The Internet is growing daily, and it is world wide growth. I purchase products from Austrailia, United Kingdom, Ireland, India, China, Canada, Pakistan, Korea, and of course the United States.

I haven't found any one country, that has an exclusive control over marketing and sales. In fact, it is probably in your best interest to study, improve, and put into practice, the best ideas from each different culture.

Good ideas come from the minds of all people.

NOTE:    I didn't say copy and put into practice, be unique.

Creative thinking is one of the things, it takes to be successful. It eliminates obstacles.

The main thing is keep at it, "persistence" is what's required. Your next step, may be the one that leads to SUCCESS.

I believe in team work, value added products, and win, win situations, working smarter not harder.

This will occur when people work together to accomplish a task, or goal. Value is added, when time and costs are reduced for the benefit of the customer, this includes internal customers (the ones involved in the process) as well as the standard customer.

This is the ultimate goal of "DJ's Marketing Newsletter" and data exchange forum.

I decided when spam got so bad, I wouldn't contribute to the problem and now, I just keep adding webpages to the website. No email unless it's absolutely necessary. I catch a lot of ribbing from the guru's over not sending out email; they are more than likely right. Visitors do forget you, if you don't do things to stay fresh in their minds.
