Information Pages

Information can come in many different formats and today it seems that audio/video is the latest and greatest method. Social networking is also becoming more popular and many webmasters report that it can lead to increased traffic. Just think what you could do using them together; some major search engines and directory has already started.

Videos are catching on like crazy and are being used by many; one method has been to create tutorials for products. This has led to increased sales for many affiliates since it gives the opportunity to actually see some of the capabilities of the product offered. Some give the videos away while collecting information and increasing their lists. The video itself will usually offer a link to the sales page of the product.

Information should be presented in a manner that allows it to be accessed easily. I haven't been following the rule very well. Starting today, I will try to find some ways to give better access to my web pages. I haven't figured out how long information should remain, before being placed in an archive. Does anyone have an answer to this question; How long should information be left on a website before being archived? I always felt as long as information was relevant; it didn't need to be archived. What do you think?

Today, with the search engine spiders checking for duplicate and fresh material; it may be wise to update web pages on a more frequent basis. The web pages will need to be brought up to the latest ideas in order to be relevant.

I have had some complaints about the way I have the website set up. They are probably right; about being able to find new info being his below many other pages. I will try and remedy this by attaching additional pages new pages in this folder. I said try, it may take some time, and I'm pretty busy with some new projects.

Learning Experiences Good and Bad

I still have trouble breaking my information into small enough packets to make finding information easy. I like being able to go to one or two pages and then creating links to new information. The problem I have encountered is that new subscribers have to do a lot of reading to find information they may be searching for. Old subscribers and myself also have trouble trying to find a particular piece of information from the website and it is frustrating. I also have trouble making sure that all the links are still working and that is bad for SEO.

I would suggest that anyone starting out create categories or tabs and place small individual web pages in the various categories. I've fought with this problem for sometime now and wish I had started using a different method much earlier. This domain name has been recognized by most search engines and I hate to mess with it because SEO is based upon web pages, not entire sites.

Useful information will always be valuable and even though some formats seem good at given times; any format will work for valuable information. There are trends that work for a while and then lose popularity but with good up to date information you should be successful using any format. The trick is to make the information easily accessible and relevant to the subject being discussed.
