Sales Copy
  Good or Bad?

Let's Try and Make It Good...

Write sales copy before creating your product. Some will say I have the cart before the horse; but that is a matter of opinion. Some write their sales copy first, and then make their product fit the sales copy. I don't know that this is critical. The reason I suggest this is if you have done a good job of planning; you will already know what your product is, and what it will accomplish. This allows you to create your sales copy, and your product will do exactly what was stated.

The following questions should help you develop reasonable sales copy:

What will you say to convince your customer to buy your product ?

You will need to present your product in a positive way; tell what it will do for the customer.
Don't make the mistake of just telling how your product works. If you really have a good product; you will be excited about it, and the enthusiasm will show through in your sales copy. You also need to answer some very specific questions from your customers point of view. If you can't think like your customer, you probably don't know who your customer really is and wants. You have to know your customer and what they want to be successful.

If you can't answer these questions your sales copy needs more work.

  • What will your product do for me?
If you don't know this your in trouble. Go back and make some tough decisions.
  • What benefits will I receive from purchasing your product?
Create some bulleted points explaining why I should purchase your product.(saving time, money)
  • Anticipate any questions your customer may ask and answer them.
Maybe have someone on the outside take a look and ask questions. Then answer them.
  • Have you got previous satisfied customers (testimonials)?
You probably can't have too many of these. Getting them can sometimes be fun.
  • What kind of guarantee do you offer?
A good guarantee instills confidence in the customer and gives you abeeter chance of making a sale.
  • Do you offer any bonuses?
Over deliver, increases perceived value of your product. Often leads to additional sales.
  • Are you offering a reduced price, or special, for a given time period?
Create sense of urgency. You will need to give a reason why to be successful.
  • Did you remember to ask the prospect to purchase your product?
Tell them the action you want them to take. If not, you're losing sales.
  • Don't forget to summarize with PS's.
Give your customers the key points and ask for the sale again.

If, they didn't buy, ask them why.
You may be able to correct the problem and get the sale.

HINT:

Go look at some other sales letters and websites that are successful. Look at their format, and see if you can determine what makes it work. Don't just copy it, but study and try to learn why it's successful and incorporate those ideas into your website and sales letters.

Remember, don't just copy, being unique makes a BIG difference.
