Scams Beware
"We Talk About Them Here"
It seems that just about anything such as the lottery, or anything, that people believe has an opportunity to make money is the target of the scammers. Here are some that appear everyday:
The work at home offers works because everyone wants to work at home and control their own time schedule. The scams are usually for typing, data processors, paid surveys, or other similar type of work, most have toll free phone numbers. You had better be a fast typist because you will be working for way below minimum wage.
Another scam is an offer to pay you for creating method of exchanging money from some foreign country. They will offer to give you a large percentage for your effort, but you will have to give your bank info so the money can be exchanged.
Their are also offers from other countries to purchase lottery tickets or something similar and by purchasing from them you will be able to share in the winnings.
Anything that sounds to good to be true, more than likely is.
I recently purchased several offers that offered various freebies for purchasing a specific product. Some are nothing more than a scam to collect email addresses. Follow the old rule "if something seems to good to be true stay away". I have sent emails to some of the marketers making the offers an asked for explanations. only gave them a couple days to respond before notifying my membership. I have had several of the items request my info before giving me the info supposedly purchased. After the email an name were entered, allI received was an error message saying the site was not responding. Sounds like a scam instead of a legitimate business to me. If you have purchased a product and had similar problems, please let me know. I will add a page to this site notifying membershipof the problems encountered.
I am aware that sometimes problems happen that can't be avoided and if proper explanation is received; I will retract negative comments and post explanations given. i-Cop member and believe all businesss should be legitimate and ethical and feel it is my resposibility to look after my subscribers. The thing that bothers me most is the fact I had done business with some that made the offers. Guess some just get greedy when trying to make the almighty dollar. Some started out with the idea of offering a valuable product at a reasonable price (long term businesses) others are only interested grabbing the money and running. Today, it appears the buyer really has to be aware in order to avoid scams (buyer beware you are responsible for your decisions).
Watch for "bribes" and offers offering small price and large returns. It doesn't matter about previous dealings with the offering individuals and how legitimate they were in prior dealings. I try to look for what I think the average subscriber might think is a good deal and purchase those products from those that I have had previous dealings. I have my reputation to uphold and will be tougher on marketers I felt were reputable than other newbies. I will only identify specifc offers after giving them an opportunity to reply and explain why the problems happened. Watch this page for details and possible scams.
One of my least favorite purchases, is one that requires me to sign up multiple times in order to receive promised bonuses. I am aware that in order to get all the bonuses offered an agreement was reached that required sending me to each different site. Then to receive the bonus I had to submit name and email address. When I get caught in one of these, I use my junk email file, then I watch what I receive and decide whether the site gives valuable info or junk. If it is only junk, guess what happens to it.
