Painting Pictures with Written Words
Learn This Secret and YOU Are Well On Your Way To Internet Success
It isn't like in school where everything was graded by your grammer, spelling, and punctuation. The Internet actually is a lot less formal and prospects can't look you in the eye, or see a physical product. You must find a method that lets them understand and create a picture in their minds eye. Probably the easiest wy to accomplish this is by telling a story or parable explaining what happens between one set of methods and another.
Writing is a technical skill that some can master, and others just plod along, and hope it works. I am one of those latter writers; when I try to think in terms of pictures, and writing; I always opt for the picture. The Internet makes this a lot more difficult; the pictures, or images as they are called...are slow loading. Good writers can turn the words into visualization or painting type picture. They turn words into pictures in your mind. This is a skill that must be learned.
Who wants to wait for a site that takes longer time to open. Writing, and words come up instantly giving them an edge when it comes to visitors. Writing seems to be the golden tool when it comes to being successful on the Internet. Freelance writers are being talked about by many of the guru's. They, the guru's say, they spend their time promoting, and let the writers do the writing. That's a little tough on newbies with a limited budget.
Seems like a long time ago in my school days, there was a course offered in writing; I probably should have paid more attention. Seems like there were 5 w's, who, what, where, when, and why that needed to be answered. Finding the answers to the questions created by the questions would give you a good starting point for writing an article.
I just remembered the other term was 'how' . If I remember correctly, the why, and the how, were the main questions to be answered. Actually I cheated, I just did a search and found an article giving examples of using these terms when writing.
- Who are you trying to reach?
- Where are they located?
- What are you trying to accomplish?
- When will this happen?
- Why are you doing this?
- How will your article answer and accomplish all of the above?
Don't stop with the first set of questions; keep asking until you have answered all of your own questions. Then ask someone else to look at your article and see if they have other questions. Keep asking the questions until all the questions are answered.
This is just the beginning of the writing process; there are many styles, and methods being used to sell products. Go look at some of the guru's sales pages, and use the 5 w's, and the how, to evaluate their page. When you can answer why they did things in certain ways; you will begin to learn about writing for success. Writing may be the most important aspect of selling on the internet. Painting pictures with words seems to be a quality of several successful websites.
Don't just quit after writing an article or sales page; re-read and make improvements. Maybe you need to have some one else proof read just to be sure you aren't missing something. I usually rewrite after sleeping on it and things sure look different sometimes. Try to keep everything flowing smoothly from paragraph to paragraph use action verbs and you will be surprised at what you can do.
The methods above have always been used in writing. Now, let's take it a step beyond.
Just having the answers to the questions will indicate you are somewhat of an expert on your subject. This is a positive attribute but can lead to very boring reading if not compiled properly. The most successful Internet marketers seem to have a way of using words that allow the reader to see a picture in their mind's eye. I'm sure you have seen this in practice; some will tell a story and keep you interested and reading; the story allows you to visualize what is being described. This method of painting pictures with words has been used successfully by many Internet writers. If you build suspense into your painted word story you can be sure your writing will be read.
